SWITZERLAND. Travel Retail Experts has launched a limited edition ‘WWF Collect and Protect’ collection of plush toys featuring six of the most endangered species in the world: the jaguar, orangutan, panda, polar bear, tiger and the marine turtle. A percentage of the proceeds from each sale goes direct to the World Wildlife Fund to help preserve species that are in danger of extinction.

UK. Russ Berrie is extending its Shelby Turtle Lil Peepers range with the addition of a Pirate collection, along with a special Baby selection. Shelby, along with Shecky and Squirtle, are now offered in a range of Pirate costumes complete with eye patches and striped caps featuring skull and crossbones motifs. They are available from early August in small and medium sizes.

Children’s eyewear specialist Zoobug is launching a sports sunglasses collection for kids at the upcoming TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes (Stand number: Green Village K68). Designed to coincide with the two-year run-up to the London 2012 Olympics, the range will be exclusive to travel retail.

HONG KONG. Family-owned company Jacques Farel has announced a number of new additions to its product range - and its team - this summer. In listings news, a Jacques Farel Kids merchandising unit is displayed on The Kid's podium in the Plaza East store operated by Nuance-Watson (HK) at Hong Kong Airport during this summer's promotional period.

INTERNATIONAL. The organisers of the TFWA World Exhibition have added more space for exhibitors at this year's event, which takes place from 17 to 22 October in Cannes. BAA Boston, developer of the Airmall at Boston Logan, has announced three new additions to its retail offer, including the first Vigix vending machines ever to be installed at an airport, carrying Flik Flak children's watches. New stores for Swatch watches and a regional souvenir fashion brand have also begun trading.

FRANCE. Koto Parfums has extended its Hello Kitty fragrance portfolio with a new travel retail exclusive quintet, which will be available from September. The Sweet Collection set contains five mini 5ml edts, each presented in the signature Hello Kitty shaped flacon, adorned with a different colour bow.

UAE. Toy and gadget specialist Wizz has installed two gondolas in the duty free toy section of Cairo International Airport, one in T1 and the other in T3, as the company expands in the Middle East. Wizz merchandise has been available in Cairo Airport since May, but the branded gondolas will create a more focused offer for travellers, it said.

UK. Russ Berrie is now promoting its range of winter plush for the festive season and into the New Year. The highlight for 2010/2011 is Aspin Bear, a soft and cuddly 24-inch plush complete with winter bow, along with Bryce Bear and Mini Bears from the past. There is also a range of plush cats and dogs with various bows.
