Delhi Duty Free unveils an Indian airport shopping extravaganza

INDIA. Delhi Duty Free Services, a three-way partnership between two of the industry’s leading retailers and Delhi International Airport Limited, has opened over 30,000sq ft of duty free shopping space at Indira Gandhi International Airport’s new Terminal 3 in Delhi. “Operating at T3, the sixth-largest terminal in the world with a 34 million passenger handling capacity, we expect huge footfall and see enormous scope for the growth of airport retailing in India," says Delhi Duty Free Services CEO Nicholas Goddard Palmer.

NETHERLANDS. Schiphol Group yesterday unveiled the Holland Boulevard, a high-class Dutch-themed retail, food & beverage, lounge and entertainment zone between piers E and F at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The area features the world’s first library at an airport, a unit celebrating the history of the Bols brand, a revamped museum store, massage, relaxation and kids’ play areas, plus an impressive Dutch Kitchen from HMSHost. The Moodie Report was on hand for the opening.

Puig and WDF team up in pioneering cross-category pop-up store

UK. Puig Travel Retail and WDF have aunched the world’s first Paco Rabanne cross-category pop-up shop at Heathrow Airport T3. The store will open for an initial three months, coinciding with the summer season. The 32sq m Paco Rabanne ‘universe’ houses fragrances, watches and sunglasses from the brand’s portfolio. WDF Commercial Director Jo O’Connor hails the project, saying it has delivered “great theatre”.

B&S Paul Global unveils new-look military duty free store

Leading travel retailer and wholesaler B&S Paul Global has unveiled a radically expanded and enhanced duty free store serving NATO staff at the Allied Joint Force Command base at Brunssum in the Netherlands. WDF celebrates official launch of Edinburgh Airport store

UK. Following the completion by BAA of its new security area at Edinburgh Airport, WDF has officially launched its World Duty Free store. The 6,942sq ft shop is the centrepiece of the newly designed airport facilities and has been re-located to sit immediately opposite the entrance into the Departures lounge. A first for World Duty Free, it also features a new-look World of Whiskies store.

WDF launches new walk-through store at Bournemouth Airport

UK. WDF has officially opened its new World Duty Free store airside at Bournemouth Airport. The move follows a ten-year contract extension and comes amid the redevelopment of Bournemouth Airport’s commercial facilities. The 3,997sq ft walk-through store features larger areas for liquor, beauty and luxury goods, plus a range of brands not previously available.
